V:I:I:Y Converter

A finished, fully working tool — free, with no limits and no watermark. Not a trial. Turns anything into HAP, the codec media servers play smoothly: drop files, folders or an image sequence; reads ProRes, DNxHD, H.264, HEVC, MPEG-2, DV, HuffYUV, UtVideo, WMV and DXV; writes HAP, HAP Alpha or HAP Q. Batch, with a progress bar and a plain answer to "how big will it get".

What is under the hood?

FFmpeg's built-in hap encoder — the standard one, with Snappy as the second-stage compressor, exactly as the Hap format specifies. No separate SDK, no standalone library. It ships with our own LGPL FFmpeg build (n8.1.2), so there is nothing to install alongside it.

What the app adds is the part people usually script by hand: a batch queue with real progress, chunk count set to 16 so players can decode multi-threaded, automatic padding to a multiple of 4, optional deinterlace, and audio copied through untouched. Requirements

Minimum

  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
  • A Direct3D 11 GPU (feature level 11.0). Real work starts with a discrete NVIDIA or AMD card — every layer, effect and output is rendered on the GPU each frame
  • 8 GB RAM, media on an SSD
  • For Blackmagic capture/output: Desktop Video; for AJA: Desktop Software — see the note below

Recommended

  • Windows 11
  • Intel Core i9-12900KF class (16 cores) or AMD equivalent
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 or better, 24 GB VRAM — one output per screen plus the operator's monitor
  • 32 GB RAM or more, NVMe SSD for the media folder
  • The demo needs no key

That is the machine VIIY is built and tested on, driving four outputs. A far smaller machine runs a show — but not on integrated graphics.

Do not install on

  • Office mini-PCs and thin laptops with integrated graphics only (Intel UHD 600 class)
  • 2-core Celeron / Pentium / Atom, 4 GB RAM
  • 32-bit Windows, Windows on ARM

AJA output — Preview. AJA integration is implemented and covered by automated tests but has not yet been validated on physical AJA hardware. Test your exact card, driver and video format before production use.

  • Run the installer (Qt, FFmpeg and NDI bundled)
  • SmartScreen may still warn while the certificate earns reputation — the publisher shown is "Pravdin Vitalii Fedotovych": "More info" → "Run anyway"

Demo vs. licensed

What the watermark means

The demo is the full application — nothing is cut down and projects never expire. The only difference: every output (monitor, SDI, NDI, Spout) renders a VIIY watermark. For a working show you need a license — perpetual, from €399, covering two activations — main and backup. Released 3 September 2026; the demo stays free. Found a bug? Send us the log — it is what makes a report actionable. It lives next to the app in <install folder>\LOG\viiy.log, and if the app cannot write there (a normal install into Program Files) it falls back to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VIIY\LOG\viiy.log — paste that into the Explorer address bar. The previous run is kept as viiy.log.1 and survives a crash, so attach both: support@viiy.tech.
